Officials in Yosh: new construction permits - only after a visit to Lincoln | Israel Hayom

Against the background of sharp criticism from the opposition, senior officials in the settlement cool the enthusiasm of the new government • Despite the revolution that is being prepared in construction - they want to set realistic goals • A senior official in a conversation with "Israel Hayom": "Don't be mistaken for illusions" • Assessment: only at the end of the expected policy meetings of The American Secretary of State in Jerusalem, will convene the Supreme Planning Council • About 15,000 housing units are on the agenda - and the goal: one million Israeli residents in Samaria within a decade

In response to the publication this morning (Wednesday) in "Israel Hayom" that the government is promoting a construction program unprecedented in its scope in Yosh, senior officials in the settlement say that realistic goals must be set, in order to reach the settlement's potential without "throwing the baby out with the bath water."

In a conversation with Israel Hayom, sources stated that they of course support the moves described in the article, but some of them are not applicable even if they are given a completely free hand, among other things for technical and bureaucratic reasons, without anything to do with political issues.

According to estimates, there are approximately 15,000 housing units all over Yosh awaiting the approval of the Supreme Planning Council of the Civil Administration, which has not convened for many months, and if all these structures are indeed approved, this is a significant construction scale.

Cool the enthusiasm.

At the same time, the settlement is aware that there are political pressures that will cause that even in a "full-on" right-wing government, as it is called, they will have to take them into account.

"Tomorrow morning will they approve the construction in the E1 area? Just this alone 30 thousand housing units, but this is an issue that is parked exclusively on the political side."

Administration citizenship on the agenda?

The goal: to double the population

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is expected to arrive in Israel soon, and the settlement is well aware that it is likely that the MTA meeting will be postponed until after his visit. In the shadow of the harsh criticism voiced by the opposition, the demand is to advance the Supreme Planning Council meeting as soon as possible, but political considerations can certainly delay its convening.

Even in the wildest dreams of settlement, it is possible to double the Israeli population in the West Bank within a decade and not beyond that. The goal currently set in Judea and Samaria is to reach one million Israeli residents, and the officials say that this is possible, but there is no need to fall into illusions and think that the challenges are behind us.

Will have to wait?

He did not reveal much about his plans.

Although the approval of new housing units in the Yosh is important and necessary, settlement is not necessarily seen as the main goal at the moment. In the meeting between Galant and the heads of the authorities, the need to nationalize the Civil Administration and allow the Israeli residents to live as normal a life as possible came up mainly in the meeting between Galant and the heads of the authorities. Galant did not reveal much about his plans, they say the heads of the authorities, but mainly focused on hearing the senior officials in order to understand what they were interested in promoting: "He spoke for about three minutes during the entire meeting," the officials said.
