Will the city of Sevran, in Seine-Saint-Denis, be the first in France to host an Atacadão store, named after this discount brand that is all the rage in Brazil?
The rumor is not new.
The name of the town of 50,000 inhabitants has been mentioned several times, while the CEO of the Carrefour group, Alexandre Bompard, announced in November 2022 his desire to test this store format in France, offering a more reduced than elsewhere, and very large packaging to reduce the bill.
On the other side of the Atlantic, these products piled up on pallets, or in boxes stacked sometimes up to the ceiling, are acclaimed by low-income families as well as by the middle class.
