A team of scientists released a revealing finding:

the inner core of the Earth

-a sphere made of molten iron thousands of kilometers deep and at a temperature higher than that of the Sun- slowed down and

could rotate in the opposite direction

.

With the information,

the memes will explode in networks.

Research published in the journal

Nature Geoscience

, based on the analysis of dozens of earthquakes, suggests that it could cause changes in geophysical observations on the Earth's surface, such as in

the magnetic field and the length of the day.

In this way

,

the days have been shortening by a few fractions of a second for years without anyone knowing the reason for sure, disseminates the study signed by Xiaodong Song and Yi Yang, from the

University of Peking, in China.

How seismic movements traverse the earth.

The key to explain the phenomenon

Seismology

is an alternative method to analyze the

complex and inaccessible center of the Earth, due to its depth and extreme conditions, since earthquakes generate waves that go through the core of the planet.

For the research, Yang and Song analyzed seismic waves from nearly identical earthquakes that have just passed through Earth's inner core

since the 1960s.

And they concluded that few changes have been detected since approximately 2009, suggesting that

the rotation of the inner core could be stopped.

They in turn linked it directly to a

reversal of the inner core's rotation

as part of a seven-decade oscillation.

"We think that the central nucleus is, with respect to the Earth's surface, rotating in one direction and then in the other, like a swing," they told

AFP

.

Memes about the inner core of the Earth

While a debate began in the world of science about the scope of this research, users on Twitter were quick to take the information with humor.

That is why

memes of all kinds

and for all tastes took advantage of the theme of the Earth's core slowing down and turning in another direction with crazy comparisons.

From choreography, to movies or viral phenomena, going through Novak Djokovic and mocking flat earthers.
