The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned that the Israeli occupation is continuing to exert severe pressure on Palestinian prisoners in its detention centers, ignoring all relevant international treaties and covenants.
In a statement today, the Ministry condemned the campaigns of repression and abuse practiced by the occupation authorities against the prisoners and their arbitrary practices, and the continuation of the policy of solitary confinement in cells, with the aim of breaking their will and steadfastness.
The Ministry called on the international community and the specialized international organizations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities towards the prisoners and their rights, and the crimes they are exposed to at the hands of their jailers, as prisoners of war in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.
