Avraham Legsa, the 29-year-old suspect of raping a young woman 10 years ago, admitted today (Wednesday) during the investigation to the crime attributed to him.
The Magistrate's Court in Petah Tikva extended his detention by five days.
According to the suspicion, ten years ago, in January 2012, he attacked a young woman at night in a public garden in Rosh Ha'Ain and raped her.
A few days ago his brother was arrested in a violent incident and a DNA sample was taken from him as is taken from every suspect investigated by the police.
Entering his sample into the police database showed that his DNA is genetically close to the sample taken from the woman who was raped.
Legsa was arrested earlier today, but denied the act.
In the initial announcement by the police about the arrest, it was stated that it was an attempted rape, but in the court the crime of rape was attributed to him.
Later in the investigation, Negasa broke down and confessed.
The representative of the police, Sergeant Yaniv Hindi, said at the hearing in which the police asked to extend his detention: "In 2012, a complaint was filed by a resident of Rosh Ha'Ain that a guy raped her.
He reached the outlet and left the place.
About two days ago, the suspect's DNA was discovered after he was probably checked at some station."
