The terrorists' lawyers objected: Rana Schnarev's father will not be able to watch the trial of his daughter's killers | Israel today

Four years after the attack in which Rana Schnarev was murdered, the trial of the terrorists will begin • However, the refusal of one of their defense attorneys to allow her father, Rabbi Eitan Schnarev, to testify for the first time - may prevent him from participating in the trial of his daughter's murderers • His lawyer, Maurice Hirsch: "They are trying to silence him , the defense attorneys will not prevent the judges from hearing the shocking description of what happened"

Rabbi Eitan Schnarev, the father of the late Rana Schnarev, who was murdered in a serious attack four years ago, will not be able to participate in the trial of his daughter's killers, who even led to his serious injury in the same attack near Dolev. The reason: the terrorists' defense attorneys refuse to allow him to testify first in the trial.

In August 2019, Rana Schnarev, along with her father Rabbi Eitan Schnarev and her brother Dvir, came for a trip to Ein Bobin spring (Danish spring).

While they were walking there, a bomb planted by a terrorist squad from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine exploded.

Rana was killed on the spot and her father and brother were injured.

About a month after the attack, the five members of the squad were arrested.

The indictment states that they floated on the spring and waited for the Israelis.

When the Schnarev family arrived at the scene, they activated the powerful charge and murdered Rana.

This coming Monday, four years after the serious attack, the trial of the terrorists will begin, but at the moment it is not at all certain that the father, who was also injured in the attack, will be able to participate in it.

Since the father is also one of the victims of the attack, he must be the first witness, because otherwise there is a fear of disrupting his testimony in light of what he will hear.

Therefore, Schnarev's lawyer, Morris Hirsch, turned to the military prosecution.

He asked to allow Schnarev's testimony initially, which would prevent one kind of disruption or another.

But one of the terrorists' lawyers opposed it, so at the moment it is not possible.

"In order to be present at Rabbi Eitan's trial, he has to testify because he is the victim of the crime. If he does not testify and is present during the testimony of others, there is an issue of disruption," explains Hirsch.

The solution, says Hirsch, is simple: allow Schnarev to testify first, so that he does not hear the rest of the evidence first, and thus he can be present at the trial.

The problem is that the defenders of the terrorists refuse to allow this.

"They are trying to silence him, to keep him away from the trial," says Hirsch.

"Let him testify first and allow him to be present at the trial of the terrorists who murdered his daughter and almost murdered him."

"silence attempt"

Hirsch clarifies that he does not intend to give up on the matter.

"The attempt to silence the terrorists will not succeed. We will insist that Rabbi Eitan testify before the judges, and not only him, but also his son, Dvir, who was also injured. The terrorists' defense attorneys will not prevent the judges from hearing the shocking description of what happened."

Lawyer Leah Tsamel, who represents the defendants, said that she is not familiar with the issue.

The lawyer Bilal Na'amana, who represents the accused, said that he does not wish to provide information on the matter.
