It wasn't planned.
When Max Förnzler is traveling in Stuttgart, he discovers advertising for a casting for the TV show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” (“DSDS”) on RTL, which is in its 20th round this year.
He spontaneously takes part and sings the song "Engel" by the rockers Rammstein.
The 20-year-old Förnzler from Brackenheim near Heilbronn explains: "I just took part for fun.
I'm interested in how such a show works.” Another Brackenheimer, entertainer Micha von der Rampe, is currently going through the roof with his good mood songs.
Recently, he was involved in a dispute over a Mickie Krause song.

The casting show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” (“DSDS”) will enter the 20th round in 2023.
The RTL TV show was first broadcast on November 9, 2002.
Except for season 19 from 2022, pop musician Dieter Bohlen was always part of the "DSDS" jury.
The most famous musicians who were discovered on the show and were able to gain a foothold in the music business are Pietro Lombardi, Beatrice Egli, Alexander Klaws and Mark Medlock.

And why the song "Engel" by Rammstein?
"I'm a rock and metal fan.
Rammstein has been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid.
'Engel' is a song that almost everyone knows and is easy to headbang to.
During the 'DSDS' casting, I tried to give my interpretation of the piece its own note and not just imitate Rammstein singer Till Lindemann."
And that was apparently really well received in the pre-castings of the RTL TV show.
In Cologne, Max Förnzler from the Heilbronn area then faced the "DSDS" jury around pop titan Dieter Bohlen.
"I wasn't really excited," says Rammstein fan Förnzler, who has never sung in a band before, likes riding a motorcycle and jumping on a trampoline, works full-time in IT and only sings to himself from time to time.

"DSDS" on RTL: With Rammstein's "Engel" in the next round?
How his presentation of the Rammstein song "Engel" was received by the "DSDS" jury around Dieter Bohlen, who is currently repeatedly criticized for misogynist sayings on the RTL show - whether Förnzler flies like an angel and is light as a feather in the next round or whether it's more like "Feuer frei" when it comes to criticism, that can be seen on RTL this Wednesday, January 25, from 8:15 p.m.
Another singer from the Heilbronn area, Julian Pförtner, made it to second place in the casting show "The Voice of Germany".
