Abandoned by his life partner and cheated out of money: "Out of desperation" a 37-year-old embezzled 80,000 euros in a senior citizens' home in Vaterstetten.

Now he was in court.

Vaterstetten – For over a year, an accountant working in the “Carecon” retirement home in Vaterstetten is said to have embezzled money – a total of almost 80,000 euros.

Now the 37-year-old man had to answer before the Ebersberg district court.

"Made out of desperation": accountant rips off old people's home for 80,000 euros

There the man, who lived in Glonn at the time of the crime, confessed: "I admit everything." As his defense attorney further stated, the accused had used his position as an accountant to get around 15 sums of money between 2,300 euros and 23,600 euros transfer to your own bank account.

"I only did it out of desperation," the 37-year-old explained in court.

At the time he was going through a difficult phase: his partner at the time cheated him out of several thousand euros and he himself was struggling with depression, an alcohol and Messi problem.

"That started the mess," the accountant pointed out, head bowed.

The accountant uses himself as a wage earner and gradually collects more and more

The idea of transferring money to himself spontaneously occurred to the accused in front of the computer: the man made his first illegal transfer with a correspondingly false name in the recipient bar and “Lohn” as the intended purpose.

And more followed every month.

"Didn't anyone notice that?" Judge Frank Gellhaus asked in disbelief.

"I was afraid that I would be exposed because two people always have to authorize a transfer," the accused admitted.

But it didn't just leave chaos at home: cardboard boxes full of paid and unpaid invoices under the desk and collective bookings.

"We no longer had an overview at all," explained a former colleague of the 37-year-old, who testified as a witness in court.

In addition, the retirement home has well over 150 employees, "of course I don't know everyone's name and just released the transfers," said the 58-year-old woman.

Only a tax specialist, who was specially commissioned by the management to ensure order, finally found out about the thieving accountant.

But he had already completely burnt away the embezzled money.

Judge Frank Gellhaus set a value collection in the amount of damage.

Means: The bailiff moves on.

He also sentenced the man to one year and six months probation.
