Morocco has been on edge since its name appeared in the context of "Qatargate", this corruption scandal which has shaken the European Parliament.

, Pier Antonio Panzeri, the former Italian MEP at the heart of the case, in detention since last December, allegedly questioned Morocco during his hearings, accusing it of having, like the Qatar, given money or gifts to MEPs to influence the decisions of the European Parliament concerning him.
A testimony that would have confirmed that of Francesco Giorgi, parliamentary assistant and companion of the former vice-president of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili.
While Panzeri has promised to deliver all the facts and names to justice in return for a repentant status and a reduction in sentence, Morocco denies it en bloc and is following the case very closely through the lawyers it has commissioned. .
