"To be ashamed of": Carnival floats called "Asylum Ranch" caused severe criticism

A carnival float at the "Schifferfastnacht" in Saxony causes a stir.

Munich – In 2023 it will be time again in many places for the first time: Carnival will return after the pandemic interruption.

This is also the case after a two-year break in Prossen, a town in Saxony.

However, a video of the move has now caused a stir and discussions on Twitter and other social platforms such as Facebook.

Carnival in Saxony: Man in a rainbow costume tied to a torture stake

The video shows a moving van declared as an “asylum ranch”.

Fools dressed up as Indians dance to the carnival music.

On the side of the car the following sentence can be read on a poster: "Germany decadent and sick, Winnetou seeks asylum in Saxony".

Almost at the level of the poster, a man in a rainbow costume was tied to a stake.

The stake was used by Native American tribes in ancient times to torture and humiliate their enemies.

Horror on Twitter about the carnival video from Saxony

The background for the various symbolic motifs seems to be the so-called "Cancel Culture" debate about Winnetou.

The man in the rainbow costume is supposed to be reminiscent of the colorful flag of the "LGBTQ+" community, because the rainbow colors are generally a symbol for people in the group.

On Twitter, many users expressed their horror at the carnival float.

From "Uff" to "creepy" to "I'm throwing up", users tried to express their feelings about the video.

Another comment is something like: "You can, no, you have to, just be ashamed."

The organizer of the Schiffergesellschaft Elbe Prossen eV, Jens George, on the other hand, apparently cannot fully understand the discussion on the Internet and the horror of many.

He said to

: "It's part of freedom of expression." Everything is allowed at carnival, "everyone can do what they want" - that's how it is in Cologne after all.

Carnival in Saxony: Already in focus in 2020 and 2015
