Al-Khatib at the Syrian Telecom Conference: Implementation of new projects to provide additional services to citizens

The Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib, affirmed that the Syrian Telecom Company is in the process of implementing new projects to provide additional and modern services to citizens, and it is working despite all the challenges and difficult economic conditions. This came during the annual conference of the Syrian Telecom Company.

In his speech at the opening of the conference, Minister Al-Khatib said: The company continues to work despite all the challenges and the current difficult economic conditions, indicating that it seeks during the current year to re-maintain and rehabilitate the telephone centers that were destroyed by terrorism and put them into service, and to implement new projects that would provide additional and modern services to citizens.

In turn, the Director General of the Syrian Telecom Company, Eng. Saif Al-Din Al-Hassan, indicated that the company's strategy for the coming years was developed through a document based on the vision, mission and values ​​of the Syrian Telecom, identifying strengths and weaknesses and setting the main strategic goals, and a list of projects related to these goals to be implemented during the stage coming.

The interventions of the directors of departments and branches focused on the difficulties that the company encountered in implementing its plans, proposals and solutions to avoid obstacles in the current year.

The company's technical department director, Eng. Musab Al-Haj Ali, reviewed the company's plan for the year 2023, in which he indicated that the company is continuing to implement some strategic contracts to supply 390,000 ADSL gates, 150,000 VDSL gates and about 1,300 LTE terminals for the necessity of investing in Fixed LTE stations and deploying package services.

Al-Haj Ali indicated that the company is seeking to implement solar energy systems for about 100 sites for the need for the services of external access units to ensure continuity of services 24 hours a day, in addition to implementing some important paths on the backbone network to secure ring protection on the (Tartous-Latakia) and (Damascus-Homs) axes. And expanding the main and sub-networks for a number of telephone centers in Syria and continuing to spread broadband services using FTT technology and working to restore communication service to some telephone centers in the liberated areas, and implementing the sites mentioned in the Chinese grant with a capacity of 100 thousand gates upon their arrival and supplying networking materials.

During the conference, the difficulties and obstacles facing the work of Syrian Telecom and its branches in the governorates were discussed, and ways to overcome them, such as the geographical distance between the centers, the difficulty of securing the spare parts needed to repair faults, the lack of technical staff, the need for casual workers for loading and guarding, and the mechanism for protecting the copper network cables from theft that could occur.

The conference was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Syrian Telecom Company, Dr. Ragheed Kasoua.
