After 9 years as the editor-in-chief of "Mekor Rishon", Hagai Segal will soon finish his role as editor and return to focus on the writing slot above the newspaper's pages.
The "Israel Hayom" group, which also owns the national-religious newspaper, stated that "Segal recently shared his opinion with the group's senior executives Amir Finkelstein and Ricky Rob about the need for a change of shifts and his desire to end his position as editor-in-chief. The publisher and the group's owners, Dr. Miriam Adelson decided that the next editor would be Elad Tana."
Tana is returning to the newspaper where he previously worked for years - among other things, he founded and edited the "Motsesh" magazine in the newspaper in 2010, and also served as the deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper.
He then served as deputy editor-in-chief of Maariv and editor-in-chief of nrg.
In 2015 he established the digital division at the Public Broadcasting Corporation and managed it for 6 years.
In his last position, Tana served as the head of Israel's national information system under the Bennett government.

Miriam Adelson, the group's publisher: "It is difficult to describe Hagai Segal's enormous contribution to the growth and advancement of the Makor Rishon newspaper over the years, and we are happy that Hagai will continue to lead our professional team of writers in the coming years as well.
We welcome Elad Tana's return to the newspaper that was his home, and we are sure that Tana will take the newspaper to new heights."
Hagai Segal: "Nearly nine years ago, I was offered the position of editor of Makor Rishon, a position that combines great creative joy and great responsibility.
Every day I remembered that I am not a singer, at most a captain of a fine, hardworking and enthusiastic team.
Recently I realized that it was time for a shift change.
I believe that Elad Tana's skills will help him lead Rishon's source - the newspaper and the website - from army to army, and I will also help as best I can."
Elad Tana: "I thank you for the trust and the privilege to serve as the editor-in-chief of Mekur Rishon. This is an exciting closing of the circle for me and also the start of a new path and I hope I can take Mekur Rishon for its achievements, continue the legacy and march it forward."
