During the heyday of the Corona rules, the city of Munich received 3.2 million euros in fines.
Only 14 affected people are currently claiming them back.
Munich – The city of Munich received 3.2 million euros in fines for violations of corona rules.
In all of Bavaria it was almost 40 million euros.
Almost 237,000 administrative offense proceedings were conducted for this.
Almost 38,000 procedures are still pending.
In Munich, only 14 people tried to get their money back.
The district administration department reports this to our newspaper on request.
And the people of Munich have the right to do so.
Because the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig ruled in November that the strict exit restrictions imposed by the Free State of Bavaria in April 2020 were disproportionate and ineffective.
The exit restriction at the time – i.e. the ban on leaving your own apartment without a good reason – was said to be incompatible with the principle of proportionality.
The judges thus rejected an appeal by the state government against a judgment of the Bavarian Administrative Court.
Business owners faced fines if they didn't enforce the rules in their area
During the corona pandemic, for example, violations of the mask requirement or the temporarily applicable exit restrictions could be punished with severe fines.
Anyone who was on the street without a good reason, for example on the way to work, paid 500 euros.
For illegal parties or gatherings, even 5000 euros were due, violations of the mask requirement cost 250 euros.
And business owners were threatened with fines if they did not sufficiently enforce the applicable Corona rules in their area.
