Walmart, the distribution giant, with its 1.6 million employees, is the largest private employer in the United States.
Also, each of its decisions can both have an impact on the country's economy, set trends or sometimes reflect them.
However, the group has just announced an increase in the minimum wage for employees of its hypermarkets to 14 dollars per hour.
The decision affects 21% of the group's staff in the United States, especially those who restock the shelves and welcome customers.
On average they will earn, from the month of March, 17 dollars per hour, which corresponds to an increase of 17%.
