Error message instead of internet surveillance: hackers have paralyzed the police website.

But the attack didn't just hit her.

Stuttgart - Hackers have attacked the police in the southwest.

The Ministry of the Interior confirmed this to the German Press Agency in Stuttgart on Thursday.

A spokeswoman said there had been a so-called DDoS attack (Denial of Service) on several facilities throughout Germany, including the websites of the state police.

The website polizei-bw.de, on which several pages were attached, was affected.

Such attacks would use significantly more network resources than normal, for example due to a large number of calls.

The sites are still out of service.

The dpa learned from internal police circles that the higher state authority BITBW had noticed “waves of strong and varied attempts to access the website of the Baden-Württemberg police force” on Wednesday.

According to this, there were sometimes 50 to 60 calls per second.

The attack was aimed at overloading the web server and online services.

The firewall was at times fully utilized, which led to delays on the internet portal.

Countermeasures introduced, including so-called geo-blocking, have not led to the desired success, according to the information.

The police then decided to temporarily shut down the Internet server to protect against possible damage.

A possible restart of the server and the further procedure should be coordinated on Thursday.
