A transgender woman
convicted of rape in Scotland will not be held in a women's prison, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced Thursday, after two days of controversy.
Isla Bryson, formerly called Adam Graham, was convicted Tuesday of

in 2016 and 2019 before they transitioned into becoming a woman.

"Given the legitimate concerns of the public and Members of Parliament in this case, I can confirm to Parliament that this detainee will not be held at Cornton Vale Prison for Women," Sturgeon announced.
