Nantes: several arrests after an operation to fight traffic in the city center

Six individuals were taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon after being arrested in downtown Nantes.

Five others received customs fines.

The arrest of these eleven men, aged 19 to 25, took place as part of a coordinated check carried out between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. by the specialized field brigade of the city center, in conjunction with customs and the police. municipal.

From Commerce and its adjacent streets, such as Sainte-Catherine Street, to public transport patrols, around forty officers were mobilized as part of this anti-trafficking operation.

The latter notably seized 20 packets of contraband cigarettes, cannabis resin (two strips), money (one hundred euros from two individuals) and pregabalin pills.

The material seized was destroyed.

Other control operations to come

Among the eleven arrests, three Algerians, placed in police custody, were subject to an obligation to leave the territory (OQTF).

Another was wanted for burglary, one had a false identity card and one, under judicial control, was prohibited from frequenting Place du Commerce.

He also possessed cannabis.

The others, four Algerians and a Tunisian, received customs transaction fines.

The specialized brigade had been monitoring certain points for several days.

Satisfied with this operation, the Loire-Atlantique national police indicate that this type of operation is destined to happen again.

The presence of customs makes it possible to sanction more quickly the individuals possessing contraband objects.
