In the current context of inflation and an exponential rise in energy prices,

“all help is welcome”

.

This is the reaction of Frédéric Roy, a baker from Nice who has become a figure in the disarray of the craftsmen concerned, after the announcement of an "energy emergency check" offered by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) Region.

Bakers and pastry chefs and very small businesses (TPE) will be able to benefit from this boost of up to 8,000 euros.

The region has released an envelope of 3 million euros.

"A first in the immediate future

," she said in a press release.

"I should benefit from it, it's very good news"

, breathes Frédéric Roy.

All companies being in “yellow tariff”, that is to say above 36 kWh, will be able to receive aid.

80% of bakeries in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur would be affected.

Other conditions must be ticked: the companies must have asked their energy supplier to benefit from the State shock absorber, that they have a turnover of less than 2 million euros and finally that their electricity or gas bill has doubled between the 1st quarter of 2021 and that of 2023. “

I will know at the end of the month

, specifies Frédéric Roy,

but I have no doubts.

My bill has quadrupled at least.”

The “energy-intensive” professions concerned

Other so-called “energy-intensive” professions will be concerned: dry cleaners, restaurateurs, carpenters, bodybuilders or even glassworks, those of Biot recently calling for help.

Everyone will have to wait a bit before cashing the check.

This direct aid to the payment of bills will have to be voted on at the next Plenary Assembly of the region, which will be held between the end of March and the beginning of April.

But the aid will be retroactive, warns the region, until January 1.

The discussions were led by the local Chamber of Trades and Crafts.

"I have a sword in hand on this subject

," says Gilles Dutto, its president.

Arguments to convince the region were not difficult to find.”

He estimates the overall increase in the cost of energy for these artisans at 40%.

Other regions have implemented a similar system, such as Ile-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

On Monday, the Nice baker Frédéric Roy went to Paris for a demonstration bringing together nearly 4,000 artisans in front of the Ministry of the Economy.

Received by advisers from Olivia Grégoire, the Minister Delegate in charge of SMEs and Crafts, he came away very disappointed.

If this help from the region is welcome, he remains cautious about the distribution, having no idea how much he will receive precisely.

"Emergency solutions are good, but it won't save everyone,"

he laments.

Even if the objective of Renaud Muselier, president of the PACA region, is that they

“find oxygen over time”

.

The nissart baker specifies that he will continue to take action in several departments against the government and despite this “emergency energy check” for the southern region.

Pre-registration for the form is available on the latter's website and the "Allo Région" counter is open on 04 91 57 57 57 to help craftsmen in the process.
