The after-school union has announced a strike, which will include more than 1,000 kindergarteners and assistants, starting this Tuesday. This, in protest of the conditions of their employment. "The pay is not respectful, the workers are fired every summer. The children lose stability and order"

The after-school workers' union announced today (Thursday) a strike that will last three days in all after-school schools in Jerusalem, this in protest of the employment conditions of the workers.

The strike will include more than a thousand gardeners and assistants, starting this Tuesday.

"The pay is not respectful, the workers are fired every summer," the organization said, "the children lose stability and order."

"It is shameful that precisely in the capital of Israel, the manpower crisis in Jerusalem is the most severe in the country. We are collapsing and the municipality is indifferent," the organization added.

Parents of children in afternoon classes wondered: "Every day I come to afternoon school I see a new team member. What message does this convey to my child?".

The afternoon strike follows the surprise strike of kindergarten aides.

This morning, thousands of parents across Israel in cities and towns such as Tel Aviv, Holon, Rosh Ha'Ain and others, were amazed to find out that the kindergartens are closed.

However, unlike "normal" strikes, which are preceded by an orderly procedure, this time the strike also caught the Histadrut by surprise, whose side is actually in advanced talks with the Ministry of Finance to formulate a wage agreement for helpers in the urban gardens.

Wala learned that the assistants were asked to wait for the Treasury's answer regarding the salary requirements, before taking pirated steps.

Despite this, in a decision made last night in one of the WhatsApp groups in which a large part of the assistants are unionized, it was decided not to show up for work this morning - and thousands of parents and children across the country were left stunned in front of the locked entrance gates.
