Documentation of Juan Carrito wandering the streets in search of food
Italy mourned the death in a car accident on Tuesday of a brown bear that made international headlines when it broke into a bakery and feasted on biscuits.
The Mercican bear, named Juan Carrito, was killed last Monday evening after being hit by a car on a mountain road near the town of Castel di Sangro in the center of the country.
"There are no words to express our sadness for what happened," the local national park's Instagram said.
"Juan Carito was a problematic bear, but in the park we did everything to give him a chance and allow him to remain free," they added.

The 150-pound bear was captured last year and taken to a more remote area after breaking into a bakery, but the four-year-old liked to return to his old haunts in search of food.
Before the accident, he was spotted over the weekend at a ski resort, Rai News in Italy reported. According to It is estimated that there are only about 50 Marsican bears left in Italy.
