Brokstedt – On the afternoon of January 25, a man attacked several passengers with a knife on the regional train on the route from Kiel to Hamburg.

Two people lost their lives and seven others were injured.

The perpetrator has now been caught.

The investigations of the Itzehoe murder commission in cooperation with the public prosecutor's office are in full swing.

Shortly before 3 p.m., the police received several emergency calls reporting an attack on a regional train traveling on the route from Kiel to Hamburg.

The alleged perpetrator attacked other passengers with a stabbing weapon.

Attack in train: the victims

What we know

: A total of two people were killed in the act and seven injured, three of them seriously and four slightly, it was last said (as of January 25, 8:12 p.m.).

There were initially different reports on the number of people injured.

The two victims are a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old teenager, reported Schleswig-Holstein's Interior Minister Sabine Süttelin-Waack (CDU) on Thursday.

The suspect himself was injured and was taken to a hospital by the police.

Passengers held the attacker, they managed to stop him until the emergency services were on site.

The suspect was arrested by the police on the platform.

What we know

: The alleged attacker is a 33-year-old stateless Palestinian (24hamburg.de reported), as Schleswig-Holstein's Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) said on Wednesday evening at the train station in Brokstedt.

The 33-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said.

"The background is still unclear, as is the identity of the victims," ​​said a police spokeswoman.

Germany in December 2014.
