An asteroid passed close to Earth on Thursday, one of the closest approaches on record.

Although this Thursday an asteroid was too close to Earth, it did not hit it.

And if it had, it would not pose any risk to our planet.

Only its largest debris could fall as small meteorites, without much impact on the atmosphere.
