Animal abuse: Darmanin unveils a new fight plan

During a trip to a SPA shelter, the Minister of the Interior announced on Friday the creation of a national investigation division and the training of 4,000 police and gendarmes across the country. .


Faced with the multiplication of acts of violence and cruelty on beaten dogs, abandoned cats or even horses left starved to death, the executive is going on the offensive.

During the visit to a SPA refuge in Essonne, Gérald Darmanin unveiled, this Friday, the outlines of a vast plan to fight against animal abuse.

Accompanied by Marc Fesneau, his counterpart in charge of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, the Minister of the Interior confirmed the creation of a national investigation division dedicated to the fight against violence against animals.

As Le Figaro announced on January 12, this unit is made up of fifteen police officers and gendarmes already hard at work.

In charge of the most complex cases, these specialized investigators are in close contact with animal protection players.
