This year, well-known projects will be launched in Bernbeuren: In addition to the Schnitzerstadel and the water supply, the "Pfeifferstraße II" construction area is still at the top of the agenda.

In addition, the village wants to celebrate a "giant festival".

Bernbeuren – Overall, Karl Schleich is satisfied.

A lot has been achieved in Bernbeuren in the past year, "especially with the Schnitzerstadel we have made significant progress," says the mayor in an interview with the SN.

As reported, the municipality was able to secure funding of 2.48 million euros for the renovation of the listed building, into which a supermarket is to move.

Now it should go fast.

Only a few days ago, Schleich and his deputy Josef Köpf were in Munich, where they commissioned the planning office "Landherr und Wehrhahn" with the tendering process for the architect's services.

The mayor expects that the design planning for the conversion will be awarded in three months.

The construction plan should then be put out to tender next winter so that work can begin in spring 2024.

Refurbishment of the drinking water system in Bernbeuren "picks up speed"

The topic this year is the drinking water system in Bernbeuren, which urgently needs to be renewed.

Actually, the electrical, measurement and control technology should have been brought up to date.

However, Schleich explains that the delivery bottlenecks during the pandemic delayed the work.

Now the materials are available again and the "renovation is picking up speed".

It is now the turn of the technology, next year and the year after that the new elevated tanks are to be installed.

The "Pfeifferstraße II" development area is also set to make progress: the municipality is planning 24 building sites on the open area in the south, most of which will be allocated according to the local model.

The guidelines for this were only adapted to the new EU requirements last year, explains Schleich.

Pfeifferstraße construction area: According to the mayor, fear of water is unfounded

With the new building project, they actually wanted to be further.

The schedule was delayed because, according to Schleich, the plans had been in the district office for a long time.

In the meantime, the civil engineering plans are "close to completion".

The plans will then be made public again.

As reported, the project has already encountered a lot of headwind.

Some residents of Pfeifferstrasse fear that the risk of flooding for their properties will increase if rainwater flows into their gardens from the higher-lying development area.

According to Mayor Schleich, this concern is unfounded.

The area will be developed in such a way that "the situation will even improve," he promises.

800 years of Bernbeuren: community celebrates big festival in summer

This year, the people of Bernbeuren are looking forward to the second weekend in June the most: from Thursday to Sunday, the village will celebrate its 800th anniversary, for which preparations have been going on for almost a year.

The actual founding anniversary of the Auerberg community was in 2021. "Because of Corona, a festival could not have been planned," says Schleich.

Now the anticipation is even greater.

"It will be a huge festival that many will get involved in."
