Chen Mengdi, commander of the airport investigation team of the Customs Drug Investigation Division, said that the Customs Drug Investigation Division took over the follow-up investigation and arrested two men involved in the case.
Chen Mengdi pointed out that the first arrested 45-year-old man drove a rented light truck, together with the second arrested 40-year-old man who drove a rented 5.5-ton truck, went to the airport cargo terminal to pick up the goods, and seized a suspected drug smoking tool in the light truck .
The two trucks involved in the case have been rented since January 21 this year. Customs believes that they are for importing and hoarding drugs during the Chinese New Year. It is believed that the operation has successfully smashed a newly-operated drug trafficking syndicate.
According to the information of the car rental company, the two cars were rented by the same 41-year-old unemployed woman. Customs then went to her premises in Yuen Long and arrested her, where they seized about 2.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a suspected drug smoking tool.
Chen Mengdi said that the 45-year-old arrested man reported that he was a casual worker, and it is believed that he received 1,000 yuan for receiving the second batch of 10 boxes of goods that did not contain drugs; the 40-year-old arrested man reported that he was a decoration worker. , Received the first batch of 22 boxes of goods containing drugs.
The 41-year-old arrested woman and the 40-year-old arrested man are a cohabiting couple, believed to be unpaid.
Chen Mengdi also said that the role of the drug trafficking group is clear, and the crime is carefully planned. I believe they deliberately registered a trading company, received the goods at the address of the industrial building, pretended to be a legitimate trader to import goods, and tried to reduce the risk of random inspections. The staff of the freight company directly pick up the goods at the airport cargo terminal to reduce the risk.
Liang Guangzhi pointed out that the Customs has found that in the recent drug trafficking cases, there is an increasing trend of criminals using various airborne packaged food as a way of drug trafficking. It cannot be ruled out that they use festive food as a cover up around festivals.
The Shuangshi Earth brand heroin involved in this case was hidden in 22 boxes of cake tins of different brands and shapes.
