Ottobrunn

- A 76-year-old cyclist from the southern district of Munich was hit by a car in Ottobrunn on Thursday.

According to the police, the woman was not wearing a bicycle helmet and suffered serious head injuries;

she had to be taken to a hospital for inpatient treatment.

The collision occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Rosenheimer Landstrasse, which has the right of way, with Jahnstrasse and Prinz-Otto-Strasse.

A 26-year-old, also from the southern district, drove his Ford on Jahnstraße and apparently wanted to cross Rosenheimer Landstraße straight ahead in the direction of Prinz-Otto-Straße, according to the first findings of the police.

At the junction with Prinz-Otto-Strasse, he overlooked the 76-year-old who was driving on the wrong side of the Rosenheimer Landstrasse cycle path in the direction of Neubiberg.

The cyclist hit the side of the car and sustained serious head injuries.

The total damage is estimated at several hundred euros.

The Munich traffic police are conducting further investigations in this case.
