What do we do in a writing workshop?
The first objective of the Figaro littéraire writing workshops is to discuss your desires and blockages with you.
We believe that the main difficulty inherent in writing is psychological.
Together, the goal is to succeed in "unblocking", in desacralizing writing.
There are techniques to bring out the text that one carries within oneself, to give oneself a discipline.
The notion of pleasure and play is omnipresent - all exercises or writing games have a playful dimension.
From the second session, participants will be able to see progress.
To discover
Crosswords, arrow words, 7 Letters... Free to play anywhere, anytime with the Le Figaro Games app
During the first session, we will make a "state" of desires to suggest the games and exercises that would be best suited.
In general, we will explore the different writing tracks and we will meet the texts of each - for those who wish.
All territories will be reviewed: Notebooks and diaries / Stories / Testimonials / Novels / Short stories / Poems / Biographies / Autobiographies.
Discover the “tricks” of the trade
The facilitator of the writing workshop which will take place in the premises of Le Figaro will also rely on books that he can recommend to participants.
The workshop proposes to support everyone in their own writing.
You will learn to recognize the uniqueness of your own style, your personal touch.
To rework the texts, the attacks, the falls, the rhythms, the dialogues through different exercises...
The work on the text and the discipline to be held according to its objectives is the essential goal of this workshop.
We will introduce many writing techniques and “tricks” of the trade, because writing is also a technique.
With examples of questions that the author most often asks himself: when to read again?
When to rewrite?
What materials to work on, the real, the imaginary, how to combine the two?
What we would like to achieve at the end of the four sessions: that the participant leaves with a self-confidence and a discipline that allows him to go to the end of his project, whether he wishes to write for himself or be published.
One can set oneself, after having worked through exercises, as an objective to write a short story.

Setpoint ?
“You have just killed your neighbor or your neighbour.
Tell why..."
He had proposed this situation to his participants during a writing workshop conducted at full speed in the premises of
Le Figaro
, on a Monday evening (the author of
The List of my desires
and
The Repaired Child
is in its fourth edition, and although he lives in the United States he likes to come back to France to animate these workshops).
The astonishing thing during the session is that everyone immerses themselves with delight in the "exercise" or "the literary game" - we take it as we want.
The result is incredibly fruitful.
After about twenty minutes, everyone reads their production, and everyone, through their text, reveals their universe.
There are funny, moving, serious, whimsical, etc.
Just like in life.
We know: the most difficult thing is to achieve your own style... Then, the writer-animator distills his comments and advice.
The four hours pass at a brisk pace.
The writing workshops take place at Le Figaro, 14 boulevard Haussmann 75009 Paris.
