Governments around the world rushed to condemn tonight (Saturday) the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of seven people in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood in Jerusalem.
The United States Ambassador to Israel, Tom Nadis, issued a statement that read: "A terrible act of violence in a synagogue in Jerusalem on International Holocaust Day. I am shocked and disgusted by this despicable act of terrorism against innocent citizens, including children. I pray for all the victims and their loved ones."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, a Shiite Muslim country in the South Caucasus, responded to the incident with a statement that read: "We strongly condemn the terrorist attack on the synagogue in the Neve Ya'akov neighborhood in Jerusalem. Our condolences to the families of the murdered and speedy recovery to the injured."
The Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Taini, responded to the attack and wrote: Deeply shocked by the news of the brutal attack on a synagogue on Saturday in Jerusalem.
A terrorist act was threatened, and especially ugly because it was carried out on a day when we commemorate the Holocaust.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families"
