Exceeding an exception in Tehran: a gunman opened fire at the security post of the Azerbaijani embassy in the Iranian capital and killed the head of the embassy's security guard.
An exchange of fire broke out between the attacker, whose identity is unknown, and the security guards at the scene and during the shooting two security guards were injured.
The Azeri Foreign Ministry, which called the attack "treacherous and violent", issued a statement stating that the shooter was arrested and the circumstances of the incident were being investigated.
A video released from the security camera at the scene shows how the suspect entered the embassy building, opened fire with a Kalashnikov rifle and was then subdued by the security guards.
The Iranian news agency "Tasnim" published that the suspect entered the embassy with two children carrying a Kalashnikov assault rifle and that the incident may have been due to "personal reasons".
Videos posted on social media showed damage to the guard post at the entrance to the embassy.
Iran-Azerbaijan relations have known mainly rebellions in the past year when Iran held threatening military exercises around the southern border of Azerbaijan.
In Tehran, Baku's warm relations with the United States and Israel are frowned upon, and the Azeri government is seen as guilty of the popular uprising among the large Azeri minority in Iran.
