Half a year later, the Labor Department stated today (27th) that it has completed investigations on occupational safety and health and employee compensation, and found that the occupants and employers of the premises, namely Arts Energy Engineering Co., Ltd., Hip Hing Lung Stage Engineering Co., Ltd. Company, suspected of violating the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance (Cap. 509) and the Employees' Compensation Ordinance (Cap. 282).


The violations involved included failing to provide employees with safe working equipment and a safe system of work, failing to notify the Commissioner for Labor of accidents, and purchasing employees' compensation insurance for employees, etc.

After consulting the Department of Justice, the Labor Department filed a total of 15 prosecutions against the above-mentioned companies in accordance with the relevant regulations, and applied to the court for a summons on January 17 this year.

The case has been scheduled for the first hearing at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on March 27.

The Labor Department stated today that it has completed investigations into occupational safety and health and employees' compensation regarding an accident that occurred during the preparation and performance of a concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum in July last year.

Investigations revealed that the occupants and employers of the premises concerned, namely Arts Energy Engineering Limited, Hip Hing Leong Stage Engineering Limited and Studiodanz Company Limited, were suspected of violating the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance (Cap. 509) and the Employees' Compensation Ordinance (Cap. 282).

The Labor Department pointed out that the violations involved included failing to provide employees with safe working equipment and safe systems of work, failing to notify the Commissioner for Labor of accidents, and purchasing employees' compensation insurance for employees, etc.

3.27 First hearing in Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts

After consulting the Department of Justice, the Labor Department filed a total of 15 prosecutions against the above-mentioned companies in accordance with relevant regulations, and applied for a summons to the court on January 17 this year. The case has been scheduled for March 27 in the Kowloon City Magistrates' Court for the first hearing news.

A spokesman for the Labor Department said that the Labor Department will never tolerate the above-mentioned illegal acts and will strictly enforce the law and do everything possible to protect the occupational safety, health and legal rights of employees.

The Secretary for Labor and Welfare, Sun Yuhan, said on January 20 that the first phase of investigations under the Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance and the Employees' Compensation Ordinance have been completed, and follow-up legal actions will be taken soon.
