Iranian police announced the seizure of more than two tons of drugs in Sistan-Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran.
The Iranian news agency, IRNA, quoted the commander of the internal security forces in the province, Brigadier General Muhammad Qanbari, as saying in a statement: “During security operations carried out by the special forces of the anti-drug police in the province, two tons and 330 kilograms of various types of drugs, eight cars, three pieces of weapons, and a quantity of drugs were seized.” The ammunition was in the possession of one of the armed gangs that sought to smuggle drugs into the country,” noting that four smugglers were also arrested during the operations.
The Iranian authorities continue their campaigns to prosecute drug smugglers and dealers in several regions of the country.
