A No. 3 alarm fire broke out in Tsuen Wan.

In the early hours of the sixth day of the Lunar New Year (27th), three metal houses caught fire in Henglong Village, Tsuen Kam Highway, and many residents called the police.

Firefighters arrived and dragged their throats for rescue.

Due to the intensity of the fire and the large size of the fire site, which reached 30 meters by 30 meters, the water source at the scene was remote, and the fire alarm was spreading again. After the fire assessment, the fire alarm was raised to level 3 at 4:39 a.m., and 6 hoses and 6 teams were dispatched The smoke cap team fought and put out the fire at 6:56.

A total of 77 villagers evacuated on their own during the incident, and two men were sent to the hospital because of smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Yu Zijie, head of the fire department of the Fire Services Department, explained the details of the fire this morning (27th), saying that a fire broke out in a garage in Henglong Village, Tsuen Wan at about 4:11 in the morning. The fire brigade arrived at the scene and found three metal houses on fire.

Yu Zijie continued to point out that due to the fierceness of the fire and the large area of the fire scene, which reached 30 meters by 30 meters, and the location of the scene was remote from the water source, the fire alarm had a tendency to spread.

The fire department dispatched 29 fire trucks and 6 ambulances to the scene, dispatched 150 firefighters and ambulance personnel, used 6 jets and 6 smoke cap teams to fight the fire, and used drones to assist in extinguishing the fire.

The fire was surrounded at 6:48 and largely extinguished at 6:56.

During the incident, 77 villagers evacuated by themselves. A 15-year-old boy and an 80-year-old man felt unwell after inhaling smoke and were sent to Renji Hospital for treatment.

Firefighters are still at the scene to cool down the fire, and no dangerous goods have been found for the time being. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Yu Zijie said that the three metal houses that caught fire were located in the center of the fire scene. The metal houses were mainly for storing sundries, but there were 2 people living in them, with a total of 16 residents, who had been evacuated to a safe place.

The fire department has contacted the Home Affairs Department and will assist in arranging accommodation for the residents.

What was seen at the scene was a row of iron houses blazing with flames, thick smoke sweeping through the air, clearly visible in the distance; adjacent to the fire site, large trees were affected, and vehicles were "buried in flames" on the side of the road, only the frame of the car was burned.

Many residents, wearing only pajamas, fled to the open grassland for shelter. Rescuers opened nearby empty containers and let some residents go inside to keep out the wind and cold.

The Fire Services Department issued a special notice at 5:34 a.m., appealing to members of the public to close doors and windows and remain calm if they are affected by the smoke and odor drifting with the wind.
