Serious accident on the FTO: Total loss three times and seven injured

A serious traffic accident with seven injured occurred on Friday morning on the airport tangent east near Oberding.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident.

The trigger was a failed turning maneuver.

Oberding – The Erding police reported that an 80-year-old Toyota driver from the Straubing district was driving on the FTO from Erding in the direction of the A 92.

At the airport exit, he turned right onto the turning lane and drove to the end.

Now he wanted to turn around on the FTO and go back to Erding.

But behind him drove a 73-year-old Ebersberger with his BMW.

When he wanted to drive past the Toyota, he suddenly steered to the left.

This caused the front of the BMW to collide with the left side of the Toyota.

It got even worse: behind the BMW was a 57-year-old from Nuremberg with his truck, who was no longer able to brake in time.

He drove into the BMW from behind, which was pushed across the oncoming lane and damaged a roadside traffic sign.

All four people in the Toyota were injured, one of whom was taken to the hospital for further examination.

The BMW driver and his passenger were also injured, both came to clinics.

The injured truck driver was given first aid on site by the emergency services.

It was initially unclear how serious the injuries were.

In any case, the trio of vehicles was badly damaged and no longer drivable.

Total damage: around 80,000 euros.

The FTO was completely closed for four hours and traffic was diverted.

Numerous firefighters and the rescue service were on site.
