The German Weather Service (DWD) is now warning of ice and frost in large parts of Germany for Friday, January 27th.
DWD warns of ice and frost: "Avoid staying outdoors and driving" - ten federal states affected
With Baden-Württemberg, Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse, Thuringia and Bavaria, a total of six federal states are completely affected by the warning.
In addition, warnings of ice and frost are also issued in the southern parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony.
In the eastern federal states, the situation is even more dangerous.
The DWD writes of "danger of slippery ice due to freezing rain".
The German Weather Service lists the possible dangers: "Danger from black ice.
Recommendations for action: Avoid staying outside and driving when it is not necessary or adapting your behavior on the road;
Plan for delays and obstructions.” The warning applies into the evening hours.
In traffic jams in some low mountain ranges, up to three centimeters of fresh snow are even possible.
In the south and in the middle of Germany there is light snowfall in places, mixed with rain at low altitudes.

In the night to Saturday there should also be some areas of ice in the southeast due to some snow or freezing drizzle, but there is also a risk of ice from freezing over wet.
According to the DWD, there should still be a small amount of snowfall in the south and south-east during the day on Saturday, but this will also increasingly subside in the afternoon in the Alps and in the Ore Mountains.
The sun should shine at times in the north.
Lowest temperatures are said to be -10 degrees, but in the north it can be up to +3 degrees.
On Sunday the weather will be ugly: in the northern half it will be mostly cloudy to overcast.
There may be some rain or drizzle.
In the south there will be an alternation of sunshine and denser cloud fields at the end of the weekend.
The temperatures are a maximum of 1 to 6 degrees, in the south and in the higher mountains there can be occasional light permafrost, as the DWD writes.
In the night to Monday it will probably rain in the north and in the middle.
