A number of people were injured as a result of an earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale that hit the city of Khoy in West Azerbaijan Province, northwest of Iran, this evening.
The Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institution at the University of Tehran said that the earthquake occurred this evening at a depth of 7 km from the earth's surface, and its epicenter was at the convergence of latitude 38.59 degrees and longitude 44.90 degrees.
The director of the Crisis Department in West Azerbaijan Province, Amir Abbas Jafari, announced that the earthquake resulted in a number of injuries, but without casualties, pointing out that all hospitals in the cities of the province are ready to receive the injured.
