A 21-year-old member of the British army was arraigned in London on Saturday on charges of planting a fake bomb on an air force base and a terrorist offence.
Daniel Abed Khalife, 21, was charged on Friday with charges dating back to January and August 2021, at a Royal Air Force base in Strafford, central England.
Presented at Westminster Magistrates Court on Saturday, he is accused of having obtained or attempted to obtain information "
about an individual who was or has been a member
" of the British army "
likely to serve a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism
” in August 2021.
He is also being prosecuted for a false bomb threat, accused of having "
placed an object with the intention of causing another person to believe that the said object was likely to explode
" on January 2.
He is accused of having placed "
three cans with wires
" on the base.

During the hearing on Saturday, he simply confirmed his identity, before being kept in detention until the next hearing, scheduled for February 3.
