Theatrical director Evan Nabulsi is making preparations for his new work (Hisab), after he finished writing the script for it, to be presented to theater audiences this year.
The work is Nabulsi's third experience in writing and directing, in which he sheds light on the negative qualities inherent in each individual and attempts to hide them, such as hatred, selfishness and hatred, by presenting them indirectly within the framework of a family atmosphere based on linking the threads of the characters in a dialogue manner that serves the idea of the text and communicates it to the recipient.
Nabulsi added, in an exclusive interview with SANA reporter, that his first stand on stage was at the Vanguard Festival, which was held in Raqqa Governorate in 2008, through his performance of one of the characters in the play (Popular Wedding) directed by Nasr, until he participated in the theatrical show (Perfume Symphony of Death) in 2017. With director Nidal Hammoud, which he considered his first real experience.
Nabulsi continues: The years of the terrorist war on Syria imposed data, a lifestyle, and thinking completely different from what prevailed before it, to put the young generation in particular in front of a great challenge, hence the idea of my first experience in writing and directing (a dialogue table), which is of the type of black comedy and is based on four Basic ideas that provide examples of real cases lived by the actors, summarizing the cases that each individual goes through at a certain stage, such as love, passion, and memories, in a manner that suits the different mentalities of the recipients.
Nabulsi presented his second experience in the field of writing and theatrical directing directed at children (The Wolf, Mayor of the Place) through the stories of cartoon characters that are still present in the minds, which were recently shown on the national stage as part of the activities of the Children’s Theater, and through which he addressed the issue of bullying that children are exposed to and leaves its traces later on their character.
Nabulsi also worked in the field of design and musical implementation of a number of theatrical works, including: (The Cell) by Maghames, and (Robot) by the late Radwan Jamous, and some works by directors Nidal Hammoud and Talal Al-Halabi.
Nabulsi finds, despite the multiplicity of his theatrical work between acting, directing, authoring, and his treatment of social issues in an absurd, interactive, social and comic way, that after each work he faces a greater responsibility that requires him to rise to a higher level in the world of theater, with the presence of young energies who have love and passion for the theater, which made him move away from the idea Establishing a private troupe, opening the door for amateurs to work with him, believing in their hidden energies to advance the theater again.
