Two people were wounded on Saturday January 28 by bullets during a terrorist attack in a neighborhood of East Jerusalem, said the Israeli police, the day after a shooting that left seven dead near a synagogue.
The assailant was "
neutralized
", said a spokesperson, without specifying whether he was injured or dead.
Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's equivalent of the Red Cross, said it received a call at 10:42 a.m. "
reporting a terrorist attack
" and "
two casualties at the scene
."
"
A 23-year-old man in serious condition and a 47-year-old man in moderate to serious condition with gunshot wounds to his upper body
," an MDA spokesperson said.
“
We were quickly on the scene and saw two victims of an armed attack
,” Fadi Dekidek, a doctor at MDA, said in a statement.
He said the victims were "
conscious
" and had been taken to hospital.
The day before, East Jerusalem was the scene of a deadly attack, one of the bloodiest in years, in which a 21-year-old Palestinian man killed seven people near a synagogue, before being shot .
42 people were arrested the next day for questioning.
