The city prosecutor's office determined that the fatal collision between two subway trains was caused by the negligent driving of Carlos Alfredo "N", who did not respect security measures and exceeded speed.

The authorities of Mexico City reported on Friday that they ordered the arrest for homicide of the subway driver who caused the accident that caused the death of an 18-year-old girl and left a hundred injured on January 7.

This was stated at a press conference by the spokesman for the Attorney General's Office of the Mexican capital, Ulises Lara, who said that the fatal crash between two convoys of subway line 3 was due to the negligent driving of Carlos Alfredo "N ", who did not respect security measures and exceeded the speed.

In addition, hours before the cutting and burning of electrical cables was reported at the Potrero station where the accident occurred.

According to the official, these two aspects were the ones that caused the crash and the consequent death of a young woman, for which an investigation file was initiated and the alleged perpetrator was arrested for crimes of homicide and injuries.

"Because of the above, the arrest warrant was completed for the possible commission of the crimes of manslaughter and injuries," Lara said.

The investigations carried out by the authorities determined that the train driver

did not adhere to the technical guidelines because he exceeded the speed limit in manual piloting

, which he later changed to automatic piloting, something that he did not notify the central control post, and did not carry out a maneuver some to stop the train.

Regarding the cutting and burning of cables at the Potrero station, an incident that was reported hours before the accident, the authorities consider it an "intentional" act and opened an investigation for that crime to determine those responsible.

"It should be noted that this can lead to the crime of sabotage, which is established in the Criminal Code and consists of damaging, destroying or hindering communication channels," Lara said.

The events occurred on January 7, when the impact of two subway trains

caused one death and injured 106 people

among those who used this means of public transport.

After the crash, multiple incidents have occurred in the capital's subway this month, such as the separation of two carriages or multiple cuts in services due to events that the head of the Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, declared acts of "sabotage". .

For this reason, Sheinbaum asked the Mexican government to deploy 6,000 troops from the militarized National Guard, to patrol the platforms and wagons of the capital's subway.

This decision sparked controversy and led various human rights defense organizations to speak out against it, considering that the presence of these troops in the subway seeks to give a false sense of security and perpetuates the increasingly frequent militarization policies in the country.
