The World Food Program issued a warning about the rates of what it called hunger in Syria and their reaching record levels, due to the chronic economic and financial collapse, asking: Is this what the international community wants, regardless of the timing of this warning, its accuracy, its conformity with reality, and its impact on the political, economic and media levels? It is telling half the truth. To the world, leaving the other half vulnerable to manipulation and propaganda campaigns against the Syrian government. Therefore, it was necessary for the program's executive director Yafid Beasley to indicate at least the basic reasons that led to this economic and social reality in Syria.

All officials in international organizations agree that Syria, before 2011, was one of the first countries to achieve self-sufficiency and food security, and it was providing assistance to countries in need in the region, especially with regard to wheat.

Likewise, Syria was satisfied with energy carriers, and it exported electricity and gas to neighboring countries, especially Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and sometimes Turkey, and it had an ambitious program to meet energy needs for the year 2050.

The terrorist war on Syria led by the United States of America and its European allies and its tools in the region targeted primarily the infrastructure of the energy sector in Syria and infrastructure projects related to agricultural production in the vital areas of the Syrian Jazeera, Daraa, Raqqa and the countryside of Aleppo... which gradually led to a decline in agricultural production And when the terrorist war on Syria failed to achieve its strategic goals, the United States and its allies turned to economic terrorism, and occupied the geographical area rich in energy and agricultural production resources in Syria, and then looted and stole it, contrary to all international laws without finding any criticism from international organizations. on these actions.

Washington was not satisfied with that, and when it found that its actions did not lead to the realization of its aggressive project in the region, it imposed an unprecedented economic blockade on the Syrian people that extends to all aspects of their lives and their industrial, health, humanitarian, economic and financial needs. Which it causes to all Syrians without exception.

The main responsible for this suffering and destitution in Syria are the sponsors of terrorism under the American leadership, and the World Food Program should have said these facts, and informed the countries of the world through its role on them, and not only hinted distantly by saying, Is this what the international community wants?

There is no doubt that the Syrian people are suffering most not because of the lack of food, but because of the lack of oil and gas that the United States is plundering and selling on the black market.

Likewise, the suffering of the Syrians is not caused by a lack of resourcefulness or a lack of initiatives and absence of plans, but rather because of the economic and financial blockade imposed on the Syrian people, which imposes great financial and economic burdens only for the import of medicine, health and some basic materials.

Also, poverty in Syria is not due to social, structural or operational reasons, but rather to the refusal of the sponsors of terrorism to rebuild Syria.

Demanding the international community for the United States to stop its looting and theft of Syrian national resources is sufficient to solve a large part of the problem that the World Food Program is talking about, as this allows the Syrian government to transfer funds allocated for importing oil and gas to other deficiencies and rebuild the infrastructure destroyed by terrorism.

It is the responsibility of international organizations concerned with humanitarian and food affairs to raise their voice and inform the world that the sponsors of terrorism, led by the American leadership, are responsible for the suffering of the Syrian people, and not be content with incomplete messages for fear of the consequences of Western control of the United Nations.
