Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov confirmed that Moscow and Beijing continue to strengthen coordination efforts within the United Nations, to enhance dialogue in order to combat terrorism.
“We have consistently pursued with Beijing a policy aimed at strengthening coordination within the Security Council and the UN General Assembly, which allows us to make joint efforts to resist the narrowly utilitarian approach of the United States and its allies in matters of terrorism,” TASS quoted Syromolotov as saying during an interview today, referring to maintaining contact. The close relationship between both countries in the ASEAN Regional Forum of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and all relevant bilateral platforms.
He pointed to the convergent positions taken by Moscow and Beijing on most major issues on the counter-terrorism agenda, including the importance of promoting open dialogue and cooperation, in strict accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, global agreements and the UN counter-terrorism strategy.
Syromolotov expressed his country's appreciation for the interaction of Beijing and other countries in the war against terrorism amid a large-scale hybrid war against Russia, stressing that the use of terrorists and extremists to achieve political goals is unacceptable, as well as the use of double standards when determining their responsibility for crimes.
