Syria affirmed its total rejection of the report issued by the so-called (Investigation and Identification Team) of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons yesterday, about the alleged incident of chlorine use in Douma on April 7, 2018, in addition to what was stated in its conclusions, as it lacks any scientific and objective evidence. .
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that SANA received a copy of today: “No sane person or specialist can reach the misleading conclusions of the authors of this report, who neglected all the objective observations that were raised by state parties, experts, academics, documented media reports, and former inspectors from the organization.” They have experience and knowledge, which confirms beyond any doubt from the scientific, legal and engineering aspects and the tests conducted by specialists, including those who worked in the field commissioned by the Ban Organization, that this incident was completely fabricated.
The Foreign Ministry indicated that the report’s authors used a deceptive expression in which they say: “There are reasonable reasons for reaching these conclusions.” Once again, the correctness of its position on the reports of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which all lacked credibility, and Syria and many other countries were against recognizing the so-called (investigation and identification team), which has no legitimacy, because the majority of OPCW member states did not join the vote in favor of its establishment.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated Syria's condemnation of the use of chemical weapons anywhere, at any time and under any circumstances, and called on all states parties to the ban convention and the United Nations to assume their responsibilities to preserve the independence, credibility and future of this organization, and not allow the United States and a number of Western countries to dominate its work and role. And by politicizing its tasks, using it as a tool to achieve its political goals, and later using it to justify its attacks on Syria.
