Eyewitnesses at the scene of the attack on the synagogue in Neve Ya'akov neighborhood in Jerusalem said last night that when the incident began, they called the police for many minutes, but they did not answer them.

"We heard the attack, someone ran to call the police and it took them more than fifteen minutes to arrive."

"I saw the terrorist continue running, I threw a big rock at him," said Shalom Borochov, who had just returned from a family visit when he heard the shots in the neighborhood.

"The terrorist continued and then he shot again - everything happened quickly."

He added, "There is a shooting in Neve Ya'akov every Friday, we thought it was a wedding."

Another eyewitness who was at the place where the terrorist was caught, said that police forces were present about a kilometer from the incident due to riots that took place at that time in Beit Hanina.

"We heard gunshots from the nearby synagogue," he said.

"We locked the synagogue, and I went to get a weapon. My friend from the rescue team was there and the terrorist shot in his direction - luckily he was not hit."

"We live here in the neighborhood, I have children who live in the area, it's scary," said the local resident.

According to her, "We live in an area near Arab neighborhoods, and there are no problems - we pass freely on the roads."
