The suspect, a 25-year-old man from the Paris region, had stabbed the 32-year-old woman as she exited an elevator.

The man who had stabbed a student on Wednesday at Paris-Cité University, in the center of the capital, was indicted on Friday for attempted murder, according to a judicial source.

He was remanded in custody, the source said.

The suspect, a 25-year-old man from the Paris region, stabbed the 32-year-old woman as she exited a university elevator, seriously injuring her.

He was subsequently arrested.

The vital prognosis of the victim is no longer engaged.

Amorous spite

According to a source close to the case, the attacker would have acted out of romantic spite, having been rejected the day before the attack by the student to whom he had made a marriage proposal, when they only had a relationship of classmates.

Originally from Yvelines, unknown to the police, the alleged attacker was later also hospitalized for an operation.

A judicial source had specified that two knives were found “respectively within the University and in a trash can outside”.

More precisely in a trash can of a metro station, indicates a member of the police.
