Hairi Alkam, 21 years old from Tor, the terrorist who murdered seven people in the Jerusalem synagogue yesterday evening - is the grandson of Hairi Alkam, who was stabbed to death 25 years ago by a right-wing activist in Jerusalem.

Alkam was murdered in 1998 on Shebti Israel Street in Jerusalem, by Haim Perlman.

Perlman, a staunch right-wing activist, called "the serial stabber", was accused of murdering two Palestinians and injuring six more.

Throughout the affair, Feldman was accompanied by the "Honno" organization, and maintained a close relationship with who is now the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gabir.

According to the evidence, Alkam arrived at the synagogue in Neve Ya'akov at 20:15 and started firing rounds at people there.

He then got into his car and ran away, then ran into the police, engaged in a shootout with them, and was eventually killed.

None of them had a security record.

Also, another young man who was killed this week was among Alkam's family.

Residents said that Shuafat and other neighborhoods in East Jerusalem celebrated the attack with fireworks and the distribution of sweets.

The same is true in Hebron and Gaza.

Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian organizations welcomed the attack.

"If the enemy wants more bloodshed, we will not stand by," senior Hamas official Moshir al-Masri told Al-Jazeera, referring to the operation in Jenin.

"If the enemy wants to open more fronts, the resistance is ready. If the enemy commits more stupid acts, then Netanyahu will pay a political price as happened in the past."
