Ila Hasson: "It is forbidden for only capitalists to own media channels. Rating is not a dirty word, it is relevance and income, but in public broadcasting it is also possible to broadcast excellent original productions without constantly checking the ratings"

Kaan 11 and Reshet B journalist and member of the corporation's employee board Yoav Krakowski mentioned in his speech, among other things, that Friday is International Holocaust Day.

"Only here 11 dedicated its prime time to this day. Because this is our job, this is the public mission. We do not compete with the public channels on reality, music programs and cooking programs. The role of the commercial channels is to earn, our role is to invest."

Krakowski thanked fellow journalists and organizations for their support, "It warms our hearts and gives strength to this struggle which is just and difficult."

News 13 journalist Ayala Hasson also referred to the attack on the News 13 team in Jerusalem at the beginning of her speech.

"This is a violent and condemnable act. Violence and hatred will not take us anywhere good," she said.

"I grew up in public broadcasting and I'm very proud of it. After politicians formally closed Channel 1, after endless emergency meetings, hundreds of employees were laid off, good people, who were left hanging in the air in the middle of their lives, almost unable to find a new job, sometimes without a reason to get up in the morning. It was cruel, it was done with rapacity and a lot of lack of interest. People who were at the heart of the action were thrown to the side of the road and remained lost. This is the heavy price of dismissals and closing a workplace. In the State of Israel, for all its divisions, it is forbidden to remain without public broadcasting, which must be for the benefit of the entire public .

"It is forbidden for only capitalists to own media channels. Rating is not a dirty word, it is relevance and revenue, but in public broadcasting it is also possible to broadcast excellent original productions without constantly checking the ratings. If there is anything to correct and improve - it is certainly not my job to say. The broadcast is led Excellent people, Golan Yochpaz and Gil Omer. I am convinced that public broadcasting will not be closed, period."
