The areas cultivated with food legume crops in the lands under the supervision of the work of the General Authority for the Management and Development of the Forest in Hama, since the beginning of the cultivation operations until today, have reached about 437 hectares, out of the plan set for the current season, which amounts to 2440 hectares.
The Director of Plant Wealth in the Authority, Eng. Wafiq Zarrouf, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the cultivated areas included 227 hectares with chickpeas, 175 hectares with beans, and 35 hectares with peas and lentils, indicating that the rains during the past few days will contribute to increasing the area cultivated with food legumes, which are popular with farmers. farmers due to the availability of its requirements and its high yield.
Zarrouf explained that the production of food legumes is sold in the internal markets of the governorate, and merchants transfer the surplus to the rest of the governorates if the season's production is good.
