In the shadow of the security escalation, Abu Mazen updated his interlocutor on the latest developments and spoke with him about what was called "Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people" • He also raised the necessity of restoring a political horizon based on UN resolutions

Chairman of the Palestinian Authority Abu Mazen met this evening (Sunday) in his office in Ramallah with the head of the CIA, William Burns. The two discussed the security escalation and tensions in the field.

Abu Mazen updated his interlocutor on the latest developments and talked to him about what was called "Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people."

He emphasized the need for urgent US intervention to pressure the Israeli government to stop its "unilateral steps and stick to the signed agreements."

He also brought up the necessity of restoring a political horizon based on UN resolutions, which would bring security and stability to the region, and freedom to the Palestinian people in their country within the 67 borders and whose capital is East Jerusalem.

It should be noted that the Palestinian Authority maintains regular and normal working relations with the CIA, and the meetings with its senior officials are led by the head of the Palestinian General Intelligence, Majed Faraj.

The meeting between Abu Mazen and Burns came a few days after the PA's decision to freeze security coordination with Israel following the activity of the Israeli security forces in Jenin to thwart a "ticking bomb".

10 Palestinians were killed in the activity, including a woman not involved who was shot in the clashes and it is not yet clear whether she was hit by Palestinian gunfire or Israeli gunfire.

Israel Hayom has learned that joint field meetings between Palestinian officers and their Israeli counterparts have been suspended until further notice.

The US, for its part, informed the Palestinian leadership that it is not satisfied with the cessation of coordination, and believes that Israel and the Palestinians should maintain and even deepen it.
