Dozens of policemen, including horsemen, dogs and special unit officers, today (Sunday) are securing the KKL-Junk works ahead of the plantings near the Bedouin village of Bir al-Hammam and Moshav Nabatim in the Negev. The lives of seven people. However, the deployment was already scheduled last week, regardless of the security situation.

According to the Bedouin residents of the area, they leased the area owned by the state, and have been growing crops there for years through the Israel Lands Administration, and have no claim to the area. "As soon as the authorities come to people's land, we will object," he explained, "the land is in the territory of the state, so we do not object. There is no way we will leave our land. Now we are in the territory of the owner, near the cemetery, but the plot we are talking about today is not there in a claim for ownership, therefore we will not object if it is carried out there."

Elrafeya continued, "Our lands are east of the wadi. I was born here and today I am 61 years old. I am a social activist and our goal is to solve the problem. We have no partner, we did not invade this land. They leased the land to us instead of the state, but there is no claim of ownership of The land. Let the people cultivate it, but why is all this money being poured out and destroying houses and not solving the problem of the people who live in shacks? This is state land and there is nothing to be done with it, let us cultivate the land. Every time we talk about the crime of the Bedouins, it comes from neglect." .

Member of Knesset Yosef Atauna from Hadash-Ta'al, on the other hand, got into verbal arguments with the representative of the administration and with the policemen at the scene.

"We are here because the Israel Lands Authority is asking KKL-Junk to plant trees in this area.

The main goal is to crown the area and control it," he claimed. "From 1948 until today, the State of Israel has not recognized the Bedouin's ownership of the land.

They come to plant trees and destroy the crop.

This is apartheid."

Minister of the Negev, the Galilee and National Resilience Yitzhak Wasserlauf (Otzma Yehudit) arrived at the work site. "We decided that there would be plantings and this is happening in the field," he said. "It is not about planting trees, but about planting sovereignty and governance in the Negev, to prevent invasion of state lands, lawlessness and continuous neglect of the Negev".
