GPT Chat spoke to the US Congress.

A fulminant career, that of the Large Language Model developed by Open AI, which in a few months after its debut has already reached the heart of American institutions thanks to Democratic Senator Jake Auchincloss.

The latter, in fact, used the AI system to write part of a speech given before Congress last Wednesday, in which he presented a bill for the creation of a Research and Development Center on artificial intelligence from in cooperation with the state of Israel.

An AI writing a speech in which it proposes to do more research on AI: an idea that was found to be more effective for its philosophical and communication implications, than for the actual value of the piece of speech produced by Chat GPT, in itself rather generic and superficial like all the usual production seen so far.

«The collaboration with Israel and the development of an artificial intelligence research center - Auchincloss announced in a press release - will help our generation to be leaders in research and development at a global level.

By investing in future technologies with our allied partners, we can build an economy that prepares us for the challenges of the next generation."

The Center will serve as a hub for AI research and development in the two nations' public, private and education sectors.

To take advantage of the Open AI system, the Democratic senator had to use a little trick: ask Chat GPT to impersonate himself: «You are Jake Auchincloss, a member of Congress - in fact reads the request - Write 100 words to pronounce in the House of Representatives.

Topic: The importance of the United States-Israel Artificial Intelligence Center Act, which the congressman will reintroduce in this legislature.

To the microphones of the broadcaster WBZ NewsRadio, Auchincloss told that it took six reiterations before the result lived up to expectations.

Here are the words that the senator then read in front of Congress.

“Madam President, I'm here today because I plan to reintroduce the United States-Israel Artificial Intelligence Center Act, a bipartisan law that will solidify a mutually beneficial partnership between the United States and Israel in artificial intelligence research.

This is a major step forward in an age where artificial intelligence and its implications are at the center of public discourse

.

We must work with international partners such as the Israeli government to ensure that the United States maintains a leadership role in artificial intelligence research and development and responsibly explores the many possibilities offered by evolving technologies.

The US-Israeli Center for Artificial Intelligence law will allow us to tap into both countries' expertise and respective resources to explore and develop cutting-edge innovations in the field of AI."

Nothing extraordinary, but still an acceptable text that obtains two main results: on the one hand, remembering that «these applications are extraordinary, but they are not intelligent», because it is only «a word prediction engine», as the same Democratic Senator;

on the other hand, to suggest that writing political speeches could perhaps be one of those professions threatened by the advent of AI, with all the considerations that may follow from it.
